Legal

The Legal Department is responsible for meeting all the legal needs of the SDSA and its various partner institutions. The department’s tasks include ensuring ongoing compliance with legal requirements, identifying potential legal loopholes, assisting with administrative requests, conducting legal research for other departments, answering any questions that may arise, and reviewing or drafting statutes, contracts, terms of service, and internal regulations. The Legal Department is also responsible for maintaining contact with the partner institutions and organizing events in collaboration with the various partner universities. We have already developed and launched a network in Lausanne and Zurich, and a new network is currently being established in Bern. These initiatives allow us to expand our presence while ensuring consistency in our actions and vision. Finally, the department coordinates and supports existing networks, ensuring their sustainable development. This includes personalized support, the sharing of information and best practices, and the creation of a framework for regular exchange between entities.

Maxance Jouanneau

HEAD OF DEPARTMENT

Currently a third-year law student at the University of Geneva, I am quadrilingual and was born in Switzerland. My interests lie particularly in private law and local and international issues.

I have been a member of the SDSA and its legal department since 2025.

I also serve as a municipal councilor. Previously, my involvement led me to represent youth interests at the local, federal, and international levels, as well as to participate as a guest speaker and translator at various local events. I also had the opportunity to contribute to the development of the legal strategy for a Swiss startup specializing in sustainable food sourcing.

As head of department, my goal is to develop a results-oriented department based on integrity, rigor, and transparency.
